Punches Thrown Between Eisenberger and Di Ianni
That's a quote from Mayor Fred Eisenberger to The Spec, as he criticized Mayoral contender Larry Di Ianni for refusing to declare a preferred location for the Pan Am stadium.
Former mayor Di Ianni instead drew attention to how he would have avoided the "fiasco" that has divided the community.
Mayor Eisenberger, clearly on the offensive, said "He clearly needs to reaffirm what his position is. Let's get real on this one,"
See full Spec story here
Di Ianni argued he will support any decision council makes, "providing they do three things.
"One is that they preserve the games, two is that they keep the Tiger-Cats and three is that they don't spend too much money."Di Ianni also said the mayor is "looking to drag everybody into the same mire.
"I think it was a drastic mistake to box yourself in -- so why is he asking me to make the same mistake?" said Di Ianni. "You know what, Fred? You built it, you stew in it."

Why don't Eisenberger ask the same question to all candidates? Eisenberger dug a gigantic shit hole for himself and now he wants company? There is sufficient insanity in the debate why use this issue for political end?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the point of a heavy-handed comment moderation system when you publish crude comments like Yves Dubeau's?
ReplyDeleteYou need to choose. Either weed out offensive, profane comments, or give up on the moderation altogether.
Moderation is detrimental to the flow of the conversation, and does nothing to achieve the 'respectful civic engagement' you're after, especially not when you go ahead and publish crude language like the comment above, and misogynist garbage like we saw in the Honest Lawyer discussion.
If I were you I would lose the moderation. It's paternalistic and actually works to stifle the 'civic engagement' you're after. Have a little more faith in your readers. The odd inappropriate comment like Yves' might get through, but the quality of discussion (and your hits) would improve greatly.

ReplyDeleteRespectful discourse is a goal of this blog. We do our best in this regard and are not inffalable. Self governance of comments is appreciated. Thank-you you for your observations. At present, there are no plans to change our policy nor do we have the resources to catch everything- understanding that some comments are up to intepretation as to whether they violated the goal of respectful discourse. I find some irony in individuals who prefers to remain anonymous while criticizing the language utilized and not the subject matter. I will retract the offensive word and replace with"feces".
ReplyDeleteYves. I get it man. You're cool with the language thing. Some people gotta lightne up. They should thanks this place, this blog. I get more here than other sites. Keep dpoing it Hamiltonian and forget the anonymous cheap shots. Your cool for Hamilton.
ReplyDeleteBack to topic. Fred's showing some guts (b____s). Larry makes a point. Fred needs to know when to stop. Larry should leave it alone. Its tough man. Give the man a break. Mahesh, what do you think? Mr. Cal DiFalco? Is cal alive?

Feces, excrement, defecations, stool, crap, ca-ca, poo, eliminations .. yes, Mr. Dubeau, you otherwise write quite beautifully. Perhaps the choice of synonym will allow others to see what you are really trying to say instead of being caught up in your use of words!
ReplyDeleteI think both Mayoral candidates are digging ample poo-pits for themselves. Let them. It'll leave more poo-free spots for less poo-ey people. Butani needs to get out there more. He seems to be the best bet running now.
=)

Apart from a site Mr. Butani created on his own, I would like to see actual credible investigative journalist write a few pieces on who Mr. Butani is. Any press conferences Mr. B.? Campaign manager/press contact at your office? Is this a one-man show? I wonder if that's green-and-genius or lack of good judgment on his part? Nadia please lead me to the spots on the Butani site that make you feel he's the best bet beside the fake online polls. Thanks
