Delegation Formed on The Hamilton Waterfront Trust

Gary Santucci has issued the following notice to the media:

In response to the advice of Councillors Merulla and Partridge as posted on the Hamiltonian.net, I will be filing a GIC Delegation Request Form by Friday noon of this week on behalf of a number of concerned citizens with regards to questions raised by the Bay Observer and subsequently the Hamiltonian pertaining to alleged operational and financial issues of The Waterfront Trust as outlined by both sources. You will find the process outlined in a email exchange with the City Clerk's Office as well as the potential dates for our presentation (5 minutes). Any citizen wishing to participate is urged to contact us at the following email gicdelegation@gmail.com. Media enquiries may also be directed to this email. See details below.

Thank you both for your assistance in this matter. May I distribute this email to all concerned?

Hello Mr. Santucci. Thank you for your email. Yes, our summer schedule certainly does confuse and I will be taking this opportunity following our email exchange to revise the delegation request form to address the summer scheduling as well, so I thank you for that.
To help clarify, and having spoken to Carolyn, the agenda for the July meeting has already been printed and will be distributed to council shortly. Once the Agenda is printed, there are two matters to address: 1) your request has to be added as a Change to the Agenda on the Committee Floor, and (2) Committee needs to approve your request to speak.
I believe what Carolyn was suggesting, is that if the matter of the Waterfront Trust was listed as a discussion item on the July Committee agenda, and this gave rise to your delegation request to speak, then likely Committee would entertain your delegation request in concert with the matter for discussion in July.
However, as I understand it, there is no item related to the Waterfront Trust listed on the July Committee Agenda. Hence, even if your request was walked onto the committee floor and approved, your presentation would not be scheduled until the next regular meeting of Committee, and that would be in September when we are back to regular committee schedule.
Therefore, Carolyn will list your delegation request on the August 13th Agenda. In that regard it will be included with the Agenda for distribution and listed as an item for consideration. Once approved, you may make your presentation on September 6th, or September 19th, whichever date suits your schedule.
I hope this helps to clarify. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Carolyn or myself.
Regards,
Mary Gallagher, Deputy Clerk
Manager, Legislative Services

Mrs. Gallagher

I just spoke to Caroline Biggs of your office as per your suggestion if I needed more info. I'm afraid that I am a little more confused as to this process and the timing of everything. Apparently summer schedules have upset the normal order of things. Can you clarify?

Regards

Gary Santucci

  1. Bravo Gary. You are doing a good thing. I wish I could join you. I'm leaving for a 3 week vac with the family this weekend. I will be keeping an eye on the developments from my IPad.

Where does one find the process from the clerks office and the dates Gary referenced in his notice?

  3. This is BS. Someone has directed staff to postpone the WFT item to September. The public wants answers NOW! This is a stalling tactic in hopes that the issue will blow over by the time September rolls around. I think this stalling tactic will blow up in councils faces, giving Gary, the public and media more time to gather more information.

Gary, thank you on behalf of all Hamiltonians for keep us informed and for taking the lead on this important issue.
