Mayor Bratina on HWT 2011 Financials

In light of the Waterfront Trust's 2011 financials, we asked Mayor Bratina the following question:

Q. Mr. Mayor: Can you describe the process that council will follow to consider the 2011 financials of the Hamilton Waterfront Trust and, will there be room for council to consider the year over year losses and ultimately the future delivery of the HWT?

A. I'll speak with the clerks this week to provide a precise answer, since there are a couple of possible scenarios for the review of HWT financials. It also lies within Council's hands to determine what to do with the information on a go-forward basis. I wouldn't want to predict that right now.

Respectfully,
Bob Bratina, Mayor.

Note: Council will be officially receiving the Statements from the Trust at its GIC meeting on September 6th.

I'm somewhat concerned that Bratina who was part of HWT for two terms fell asleep at the switch if indeed their is something that will be uncovered. Incompetence is no excuse for not following due diligence when Bratina was on the board. Bratina has a track record of falling asleep at switch. First HECFI now HWT and City Council.

It was the Mayor who alerted the public and council to his concerns about the finances of the Waterfront Trust. Where have you been?

  2. HWT lost over 1.3 million over the last two years, but we have a pretty roller rink where people spin around and yummy drinks and scoops of ice cream. Bratina had the last laugh on this one. Only it isn't that funny when we're losing all that coin. Send in an auditor to dig deep before the HWT buries us in debt.

    Mr. Sarc

P.S. Can the mayor censure council?

It almost appears that Peggy Chapman and Bob Bratina are posting on this site. It is actually very funny because it is so surreal to have so many supporters of Bratina when his approval is in single digits. Furthermore Bratina was part of every decision that you are critical of including the fiscal aspect. I noticed Bratina was absent for nearly 60 percent of the board meetings . That might explain why it took him two years to put together an argument against something the City loves. Then again that is why Bratina has single digit approval rating. Just saying.

    1. Hey Anon- Your comment is very telling. Some sources have attacked Mayor B over the PeggyGate fable so badly, that people like you cannot bring yourself to admit that he could be absolutely right on the HWT issue. And in fact, he is.I think you should turn youyr attention away from the diversions and focus on the fact that the HWT continues to drain us and refused to answer most of the questions put to it.

AKA-Sorce. I am holding the board of HWT accountable including Bratina who was asleep at the switch and paid to be absent. Shame on him.

If you think any of these post are from the Mayor, then you don't know his writing style.

Anyways, I don't agree with everything the mayor says or does, but he got skewered by everyone when he was the one who turned out to be right.

Is the single digit approval rating a made up stat? I haven't read that anywhere else. Please post link to that stat.

I wondered about that stat as well...let's see.
