With agencies such as the Food and Shelter Advisory committee supporting the idea of having the Human Rights Commission involved, the city may face growing pressure as this matter proceeds. Do you support the city's strategy to get the Ontario Human Rights Commission removed from the proceedings, or do you believe this sends a bad message in terms of Hamilton's interest in the protection of human rights?

This just proves how clueless we are. If you don't think Human Rights should be an issue, let the commission be involved and let a judge decide that. To try to exclude them from being there, just makes us look bad as a city. Who is making these decisions?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, the HR Commission doesn't have to abide by the courts; they can pass judgement (ie. fine people) without having to deal with our judicial system.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone confirm this? Has anyone dealt with them before?
