Recently, The Hamiltonian was approached with a request to help raise awareness for a young child named Eli, who has been diagnosed with Grade 4 glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. We agreed to publish an announcement encouraging readers to support the family.
After publication, it was brought to our attention by one of our readers that Eli and his family reside in Hamilton, Ohio, USA, rather than Hamilton, Ontario. Neither The Hamiltonian nor, it appears, the individual who contacted us initially recognized the geographic distinction. We were initially approached to donate an item for a gift basket, but we thought it would be better to post a call out on behalf of Eli.
While we wanted to clarify this for our readers, it does not diminish the seriousness of Eli's condition or the challenges his family is facing. Cancer knows no borders, and a child battling such a devastating illness deserves compassion and support wherever they live.
