A Very Encouraging Start
The Hamiltonian will continue to evolve. At present, it provides a similar forum that Hallmarks provided. Additionally, it doubles as my personal blog, which, from time to time, may feature my views on issues. The blog has featured “10 Tough Questions” and has featured past and present politicians. Its intent however, is also to capture the views of Hamiltonians and in the future, it will feature citizens also responding to questions.
The blog is moderated and I have a dedicated support person to post new topics, clear posts, and have them appear in a timely fashion. I believe in respectful discourse so I invite constructive criticism and even pointed criticism, as long as it is in good taste.

Hamilton has always thought of itself as being on “the verge of greatness”. I believe we can get over this hump and I believe it starts with citizen engagement. Please use this blog to voice your concerns, ideas and aspirations for our great city. People are listening.
Sincerely,
Cal DiFalco

This blog believes in freedom of speech and operates in the context of a democratic society, which many have fought and died for.

I always liked Hall Marks too, mainly because she (Nicole) liked to cover the back story, behind the scenes. anything that shines a light on city hall is a good thing. I look forward to more interesting reads, like will retiring police chief Brian j. Mullan be the next Integrity Commissioner?
ReplyDeleteMAW.Are you joking? Mullan is cozy with Fred and the rest. Bad choice
ReplyDeleteI hated Hallmarks and Nicole's anti-democratic censorship via moderating posts - most other blogs in world as well as online newspaper blogs don't have censorship unless the post warrants it AFTER posting. So I don't agree with Hamilton's moderated blogs - it just shows this City's penchant for anti-democratic discourse. If it's offensive then commentators can let the posters know by adding a thumbs up or down option. Hamilton is in Canada and isn't above the Constitution on freedom of expression. I think Hamilton has a preponderance of individuals that are easily offended and have an inclination to thuggery as a result. But that shouldn't remove mine or other's right to offend. As a result some very difficult and abusive patterns in Hamilton is not getting vetted.
ReplyDeleteBTY MAW do you work for Good Shepherd? There is an Alan Whittle that was listed on their website.
Cal, what makes you think Mullan will be the Integrity Commissioner? Was his name 'mulled' about? I hope he doesn't because he did not seem to have a grip on abusive and corrupt officers. It should be someone outside of Hamilton who hasn't the learned biases.
