Before the Ballot: Summer Edition — The Lawn-chair Question
Summer is a time for backyard barbecues, weekends at the cottage, evenings on the patio, and relaxing in a lawn-chair. Municipal elections, however, do not take the summer off.
Throughout the summer, The Hamiltonian will present The Lawn-chair Question. The concept is simple: we ask candidates seeking public office one question.
While Before the Ballot focuses on issues, priorities, and plans, The Lawnchair Question focuses on something different—the person behind the campaign.
The questions may be reflective, challenging, personal, strategic, or entirely unexpected. Every candidate will receive the same question and the same opportunity to answer. Participation is optional, and yet, represents another opportunity to have constituents get to know you.
Some answers may be insightful. Some may be surprising. Some may even be fun. But all of them will provide a small window into the people asking for your vote.
Because elections are not only about what candidates promise to do. They are also about who they are.
So, as summer unfolds, pull up a lawn chair and join us.
Welcome to Before the Ballot: Summer Edition — The Lawnchair Question. First guest seated soon.

Brilliant. Stu
