1. What is it about the upcoming Immersion show that is different from past shows? Can you give us a sense of what the audience can expect to see.
The audience can expect to see a significantly different set list from previous years. We’re making a point of celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Animals album and playing the whole of the first side of the original vinyl record, which includes the epic track Dogs. We’re also playing a number of tracks from The Division Bell, Momentary Lapse of reason and The Final Cut album that we’ve never performed before, indeed a couple of songs that Pink Floyd never performed live. Of
course there will be plenty of the favourites from Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall plus other tracks from Pink Floyd’s catalogue. We’ve also changed the lighting design and added new video and laser programming to the show. So people will definitely get a different experience with this new show.
2. The precision by which Brit Floyd reproduces Pink Floyd music is purely stunning. Can you give our readers an inside view of what goes into achieving this degree of precision?
It’s a labour of love for us, a very exciting challenge to recreate this music as faithfully as we try to do. There’s certainly more to it than just learning the songs and the notes, you have to get try to get the feel right too. Pink Floyd had such a wonderful sense of space and timing with their music and it’s always the easiest thing to recreate. There’s also the challenge of recreating all those different guitar tones and keyboard sounds from the different eras of Floyd. It’s something that we have definitely become better at with the years of doing this, but it’s never easy.
3. How do the band members keep the show sounding as fresh as it does each time it is delivered?
Well it certainly helps to be playing such great music and also to be working with other very good players when you step out on to stage with this show. The fact that we get to play in front of such great crowds and passionate fans of the music helps to keep it exciting, even after all these years and the many shows.
4. At any given time, Brit Floyd is delivering musically with precision, invoking video material on a large screen and delivering a complex and spectacular laser show. It doesn’t seem to be just about playing music, but about delivering a complete Pink Floyd package. What skills above musicianship are needed to be part of that?
There are plenty of skills needed to put on our show. There’s lighting design and programming, laser programming, the creating and editing the video that accompanies all the songs that we play. It’s something that we’re always trying to improve too and we’re lucky to have some great people involved in putting the show together that the audience experiences night after night.
5. What song(s) are band favorites in terms of delivering them?
Favourites quite often tend to be something that’s new to the set list. A particularly enjoyable one that we’re performing at the moment is a track called Terminal Frost from the Momentary Lapse of Reason album. It’s such a beautiful piece of music and so very studio sounding and because of this it’s a particular challenge to get it sounding just like the original, but I believe with come very close. There are always old favourites such as Comfortably Numb and Us and Them that never stop being a pleasure to play.

6. Can you describe a magical moment that the band has experienced on stage. What make it memorable and why does it stand out.
I would say that getting to step out onto the stage at Red Rocks amphitheatre in Colorado in front of 10,000 people with a full moon behind you is about as magical as it gets! It’s such a beautiful venue with amazing acoustics and pretty much anybody who is anybody has played there over the years.
